Gypsy swing specialists the Djangoliers head to the Hunter Club, Bury St Edmunds, to pay tribute to Belgian guitarist Django Reinhardt
Enjoy a summertime celebration of the music of legendary Belgian guitarist Django Reinhardt with gypsy swing specialists the Djangoliers at the Hunter Club later this month.
As well as performing many of Django’s classic arrangements and compositions such as Nuages, Swing 42 and Manoir Des Mes Rêves, they also perform tunes from the more contemporary gypsy jazz, also known as gypsy swing, jazz manouche or hot club-style jazz.
Led by master guitarist Simon Hurley, the Djangoliers are characterised by propulsive rhythmic energy from the acoustic rhythm guitar and double bass and dancing, playful melodies and improvisations from the clarinet and acoustic lead guitar. Uniquely toe-tapping and uplifting – it makes for a perfect for a summer’s evening.
Tickets are £18, £9 under 25s. See www.headhunterslive.org or call 07799 650009.
See the Djangoliers on July 26.
