Hasketon, near Woodbridge, pub The Turks Head launching permanent pizza shed
Following the success of its first beer festival earlier this month, a Suffolk pub is thrilled to announce a permanent pizza shed at its site.
The Turks Head, in Hasketon, near Woodbridge, will start offering stone baked sourdough pizzas from May 23.
The pizza shed was trialled during the pub’s first beer and cider festival which ran between May 2 and 5 and became a firm favourite – selling out on all three days.
The team expected between 400 and 500 people to attend the event – but served more than 1,500.
Gareth Langdon, pub manager, said the team were blown away by the response.
“We thought we’d try something fun for the festival, but the buzz around the pizza shed was fantastic so making it a permanent addition was an easy decision,” he said.
All pizzas at the Turks Head Pizza Shed are handmade and stone baked on a sourdough base, with a rotating menu of seasonal, locally-sourced ingredients.
Gluten free and vegan options are available.
Rob Walls, head chef at the Turks Head, said the team liked to keep things exciting, with ever-changing specials.
These aimed to showcase the best Suffolk had to offer.
He added: “From heritage vegetables to locally cured meats, every pizza is a chance to celebrate what’s in season and what’s grown or made right here in the region.”
The Turks Head Pizza Shed will offer both eat in and takeaway.
It opens Fridays between 5.30pm and 8.30pm and Saturday from noon to 8.30pm.
