Ed Sheeran surpasses Dua Lipa and The Weeknd as world's most-played artist on radio according to Viberate report
Suffolk star Ed Sheeran has been played on radio stations around the world more often than Dua Lipa and The Weeknd in the last year, a new report has revealed.
Framlingham-based Sheeran, 30, has topped the list of artists with the best radio airplay performance in a one-year period with 4.3 million radio spins in 2021.
The analysis by Viberate, which is based on data monitoring more than 24,000 radio stations in 150 countries worldwide, saw fellow British popstar Dua Lipa come in just behind at 4.2 million spins, with Canadian singer The Weeknd at three million.
Queen were fourth at 2.9 million plays, and Maroon 5 made the fifth spot with 2.8 million radio spins.
It comes after a busy year for Suffolk star Sheeran, as he scooped Christmas number one alongside LadBaby and Sir Elton John, was a 'mega mentor' on The Voice US and also topped Heat's Rich List as the wealthiest British celebrity aged 30 or under, with an estimated worth of £236.5m.
He's also recently submitted new plans for his Framlingham estate, with proposals for a boat-shaped chapel and a built-in burial chamber.
Plans for the development were submitted to East Suffolk Council on Christmas Eve, and a decision by the planning team expected later this month.
