Hasketon, near Woodbridge, pub The Turks Head to reopen under new management this weekend
It is the start of a new chapter for a popular village pub as its new owners gear up for a grand reopening.
Husband and wife team Tom and Ruth Carroll recently took over The Turks Head, in Hasketon, which will begin pulling pints on Saturday.
The grade II-listed local shut suddenly in March and has since undergone a major refurbishment.
The couple were excited to share their vision for The Turks Head, which includes an emphasis on home-cooked food from local produce.
A video posted to the pub’s social media pages announcing its reopening has garnered more than 10,000 views.
Day-to-day operations at the pub will be led by Gareth Langdon, a 25-year veteran of the hospitality sector.
Gareth has managed other Suffolk venues, including the Grundisburgh Dog and The Table, in Woodbridge.
He said: “As a local lad with 25 years in the industry, I understand the importance of a pub like The Turks Head to the community.
“This historic building has always been a cornerstone of Hasketon, and it’s been truly missed during its closure. We can’t wait to welcome everyone back and breathe new life into this cherished pub.”
The new head chef at The Turks Head is Darren Given.
He brings more than 30 years experience to the pub, having run his own business in the past.
He described how excited he was to play his role in its next chapter, with an aim of turning it into a ‘destination gastropub’.
In addition to food, there will also be live music every third weekend of the month alongside plans for specialty events such as steak nights or themed evenings.
Tom and Ruth said they already have several events lined up to mark its relaunch.
The pair’s company, Carroll Country Pubs, also own The Catherine Wheel in Albury, Hertfordshire, and The Fountain, in Tuddenham St Martin.
Refurbishments at the pub included a fresh lick of paint, new wallpaper and prints as well as revamped furniture.
The Turks Head was previously run by the Red Cat Pub Company.
