A 36-year-old man has been jailed for six weeks in connection with a string of vehicle offences.

Kyle Beard, of no fixed address but from the Saxmundham area, was sentenced at Suffolk Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.

He was arrested following 10 vehicle-related crimes at the end of May and beginning of June, in Woodbridge and Martlesham, where vehicles were interfered with and items were stolen from within.

Beard was identified through CCTV inquiries and was arrested on Monday.

He was charged with three counts of fraud by false representations, one theft from a motor vehicle, one count of vehicle interference and one theft from a shop.

He pleaded guilty to all offences and was jailed for six weeks.

Sgt Yannick Trouillez said: “This was a positive outcome and another prolific individual is off our streets after officers acted quickly to gather the necessary evidence, identify the suspect and secure his immediate presence in court, preventing further offences and protecting the community of Woodbridge and Martlesham.

“I would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone the importance of removing all valuables and securing their vehicles, as these can be tempting for the opportunist thief.”
