New head of Saxmundham SET School 'honoured' to take on role
The new head of a Saxmundham secondary school says he is keen to be an approachable and visible presence at a time when stability is needed.
Neil Philpott will take up the helm at Saxmundham SET in September while working closely with Christina Watson, interim head of school, until then.
Mr Philpott has been deputy head at the school since the start of the academic year.
The school has seen a high turnover of school leaders in recent years, and Mr Philpott is keen to be a visible and approachable head of school - part of that will see him hold regular parent forums in the months ahead.
Mr Philpott said: "I am honoured and delighted to be selected as SET Saxmundham’s Head of School.
“At the heart of my drive and motivation has been the desire to provide excellent academic, pastoral and co-curricular education to each and every student and forging strong relationships that facilitate the school’s vision ‘Inspiring, enabling and celebrating each and every young person’s personal best’."
Saxmundham School is run by the Seckford Educational Trust (SET).
The trustees of the SET said they were delighted to announce Mr Neil as the new head of school.
Mark Barrow, chief executive officer of Seckford Education Trust, said: “With Mr Philpott's appointment we are optimistic about a strong, stable and successful future for the school and I look forward to working closely with him.
“I know that he is already looking forward to meeting with parents and students and sharing his vision for the future.”
