The Unruly Pig in Bromeswell, near Woodbridge, named as best in Britain in Estrella Damm Top 50 Gastropubs list

An award-winning gastropub near Woodbridge has secured another notch on its belt after again being named as among the best restaurants in Britain.

The Unruly Pig in Bromeswell secured first place on the 2024 Estrella Damm Top 50 Gastropubs list.

Praised for its ‘mouth-watering combo of seasonal British food with Italian influence’, it takes the top spot for the second time, having previously secured first place in 2022.

The eatery barely missed out on the top spot last year, securing second place.

The Top 50 Gastropubs website said: “We love the sound of 40-day aged sirloin steak tagliata with parmesan chips, burnt onion, and bone marrow sauce or cauliflower risotto with almond, taleggio, and black garlic.

“Regarding the atmosphere, it’s a modern, quirky gastropub with brightly coloured dining rooms, funky art and an extensive decked terrace and fire pit. For little ones not interested in a fancy splatter of sauce, there’s a dedicated kids’ menu.”

The venue has come a long way since joining the Estrella Damm Top 50 Gastropubs list as a newcomer in 2017.

Two other Suffolk pubs were named in the top 100 gastropubs.

The Greyhound Inn in Pettistree ranked 66th, while The Brewers in Rattlesden came 70th.
