Motorists and residents invited to share views on plans to improve A12 between Seven Hills junction of A14 and A1152 Woods Lane junction, in Melton, near Woodbridge
Motorists and residents are invited to share their views on proposals to improve the A12 including a new dual carriageway and upgraded roundabouts.
Suffolk County Council will host a series of meetings starting next Thursday for the Woodbridge community and A12 road users to give their feedback on the proposals.
The scheme will see improvements to the A12 between the Seven Hills junction of the A14 and the A1152 Woods Lane junction, in Melton.
The new dual carriageway will replace the single-lane bottleneck at Seckford Hall, between the B1438 and B1079, near Woodbridge.
It is hoped the plans will help tackle congestion and provide space for future growth as well as improve conditions for all road users in the area, including pedestrians and cyclists.
Councillor Chris Chambers, Suffolk County Council’s cabinet member for transport strategy, planning and waste, said: “I am delighted to see this important project progressing closer to delivery.
“The county council is firmly committed to delivering on these improvements, which look set to provide major benefits to all those travelling between our two largest towns, Ipswich and Lowestoft.”
The plans were previously discussed in 2021 as part of work to develop designs and initial business case.
Since then, the designs have been updated to reflect the feedback received.
The council will host three in-person drop-in events and an online webinar event to receive further feedback from residents and motorists as well as to provide a chance to ask questions.
The events will be held on the following days:
- Thursday, September 26 at Woodbridge Community Hall from 5.30pm to 8.30pm
- Saturday, September 28 at Martlesham Community Hall from 2.00pm to 5.00pm
- Tuesday October 1 at Shire Hall, in Woodbridge, from 4.00pm to 7.00pm
The online webinar will be on Tuesday, October 8 from 6.30pm to 7.30pm. Click here to sign-up.
Cllr Chambers added: “I encourage residents to take a look at the plans, read up on the benefits and let us know their thoughts.”
Public feedback will be opened until Tuesday, October 29.
