Woodbridge brothers celebrate launch of first video game Paddles on Playstation, Xbox and Nintendo
Two brothers from Woodbridge are celebrating the release of their first video game which is available on multiple major consoles.
Sonny and Sky Da Silva Peters, 22 and 21, have created Paddles, a multi platform console game inspired by ping pong.
The game, available on PS4/PS5, Xbox One/X/S and Nintendo Switch, has been developed by the duos' company, Lazyrays Games, and published by Six Kings Games.
It can be played solo or with up to four friends, with thirty levels and a 1v1 feature.
Sonny, the founder of Lazyrays Games, said: “I love the process of making games. I’m excited to improve the game for the players already playing it and can't wait to watch playthroughs on Youtube."
“I’m super pleased with the release, but there is still loads to do.
“I’m looking forward to seeing what projects I'll get to work on as I’ve entered the market at a young age, there are so many opportunities in a field that keeps evolving and changing."
Sonny, who studied Games Development at the University of Huddersfield, has advice for other people who may be in a similar situation to him or who want to create games like him.
“We're the first generation to have easy access to all the tools required to bring projects straight to market from our bedrooms, so go for it,” he said.
“As cheesy as it is, I've always been a fan of the old saying on my primary school wall 'aim for the moon, and you’ll land amongst the stars'.”
Sonny created and designed the game in four months, starting at the end of February and has a long-term interest in game design.
His brother, Sky, has just finished studying Computer Programming at the University of York, and is more into the coding aspect of computers and games.
He said: "My brother and I grew up constantly playing video games together, and we would have never guessed we would end up creating our own.
“It was extremely exciting to see the game going live all over the world, it feels like the official beginnings of our careers as game developers. My brother Sonny, has been making games since he was 16 and to finally be releasing a game on all major consoles is a huge achievement.
"However it also comes with a lot of stress as we eagerly anticipate sales figures and reviews."
Their mother, Vicki Da Silva Peters, 60, is over the moon with how its turned out: “I’m super excited and immensely proud of them. I’m very very happy for them both."
The two brothers have also been working on a game called Dino Party, which is to be released soon.
'Paddles' is available to buy and play now on PS4, PS5, Xbox ONE, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch, with a PC release expected at a later date.
