Four lovable Suffolk dogs searching for a new home through RSPCA Suffolk
Welcoming a dog into your home is a big decision but also a very rewarding thing to do.
Many homeless dogs are desperate to be given a chance and find a forever home they can call their own.
RSPCA Suffolk has provided profiles of four pooches looking for a new family. Could you give them the love they need?
Mia
Breed: Bull breed
Age: Three years
Mia was transferred to the Suffolk branch from another centre.
She experienced trauma at the hands of her previous owner, so she will need calm, understanding owners who are mindful of her past.
Despite this, Mia’s wonderful spirit remains intact. She loves being around people, playing with her toys and receiving plenty of strokes and scratches from her favourite humans.
Mia enjoys going out for long walks and sniffing all the delightful scents the world has to offer.
She can sometimes find other dogs a little overwhelming, and as a larger girl, she can be strong on the lead. She will benefit from continued positive socialisation and training around other dogs once settled into her new home.
Mia is currently having medicated baths for a skin irritation, which will need to be continued in her new home until her skin has fully improved.
She is such a character and will reward her new owners with endless love and affection.
Obie
Breed: Cane Corso
Age: Two years
Obie was found abandoned in a dreadful state – too weak to stand, with scars suggesting his mouth had been tied shut and corrosive liquid thrown over him.
Despite everything he has endured, Obie remains incredibly sweet-natured. He greets everyone with a happy wiggle and a toy in his mouth. Young, playful, and affectionate, Obie would make a wonderful addition to a loving family.
Although he still has some weight to gain, he continues to make steady progress and will thrive even more in the comfort of a forever home.
His full history is unknown, but he recently spent time in a foster home with cats, where he showed gentle behaviours – even sharing a bed with them. With careful introductions, he may be able to live with a confident cat who is used to living with a big dog.
He may also be suitable to live with a well-matched dog, depending on successful introductions at the centre.
If there’s an Obie-shaped space in your home, get in touch the with centre – he’s ready to leave kennels behind and start his new life.
Matsa
Breed: Lhasa Apso
Age: 12 years
Matsa came into the Suffolk centre after being removed from a property by an inspector.
Despite her older age, Matsa still has a real zest for life. She loves going on short walks, followed by curling up for a good snooze.
She gets very excited to see her favourite people, greeting them with a happy tail wag and even a gentle paw for affection.
Matsa is currently on medication for her skin, which will need to continue in her new home to keep her comfortable and happy.
Sasha
Breed: Staffordshire Bull Terrier
Age: Three years
Sasha came into the Suffolk centre via an inspector after her welfare needs were severely compromised and she wasn’t getting the care she needed.
She has been on a long rehabilitation journey during her time in RSPCA care and is now ready to find her forever home, with adopters happy to continue her training around other dogs.
Sasha would love a family who is home most of the time and can enrich her life both physically and mentally. She enjoys playing, exploring new places and getting lots of treats during training.
As she needs to be kept on a lead and muzzled due to her reactivity to other dogs, a decent-sized, secure garden of her own would be ideal for off-lead time. She’s very intelligent and enjoys her training, so everyone involved will have fun too.
Sasha has shown she can enjoy controlled walks with suitably matched dogs, but adopters must be patient and sensible with these interactions and understand she’s unlikely to be friendly with all dogs.
