Red Arrows set to fly over Suffolk as part of a historic flypast for VE Day 80 commemorations




Residents in a Suffolk are set for a glimpse of the Red Arrows as they head to London as part of a historic flypast for the VE day commemorations.

The VE Day 80 flypast will see the elite flying squad and host of World War Two planes fly past Buckingham Palace in a several hundred-mile arc, starting from RAF Waddington, Lancashire, tomorrow.

The planes will then travel out to sea and then inland towards London across south Suffolk and North Essex.

A Voyager transport aircraft, Typhoon and F-35 fighter jets, as well as a P8 Poseidon surveillance aircraft are taking part in the display.

The flypast will be comprised of six waves, with a Lancaster from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight leading the group.

Wave two will see a Voyager and A400M Atlas, with a C-17 Globemaster in the third. The fourth wave includes a P8 Poseidon MRA1 and two Typhoon FGR4 before the fifth, which features a Rivet Joint and two F-35B Lightnings.

The ninth wave features The Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team The Red Arrows.

The flypast will be performed over Buckingham Palace and The Mall in the afternoon.

Over 1,300 people, including Armed Forces members, will march to Buckingham Palace from Parliament Square in the London procession.
