A ‘welovebse’ Facebook group, which gained thousands of followers in its first month, has completed a ‘photo bomb the king’ challenge.

Around 140 people turned up to have their picture taken with the statue of St Edmund on the Cathedral Green, near the Normal Tower, in Bury St Edmunds on Sunday.

The challenge was set by group founder James Sheen and reunited many people who had not seen each other in years.

Mr Sheen, 51, recently moved back to Bury and initially started the group as a way of catching up with his former school friends.

Speaking yesterday, he said: “I added some friends and told them to add 10 more. Before I knew it, it was going up from 2,000 to 3,000 to 4,000 and yesterday, 30 days later, we reached 9,000.”

The welovebse page is being used to share old photographs and memories of Bury and is even getting noticed overseas by ‘Burians’ living in Australia, Thailand, Singapore and America.

Anyone wanting to join the group must be Facebook friends with someone already in it.
