Michael Peacock, of Nowton, receives suspended jail sentence after attacking cyclist in Mill Road, Bury St Edmunds





A 21-year-old man left a cyclist with a broken cheek bone and jaw after he pushed him off his bike and assaulted him.

Michael Peacock, of Nowton, pushed his victim - a 53-year-old man - from his bike in Mill Road, Bury St Edmunds, on September 7, 2022.

He appeared before Ipswich Crown Court today where he was sentenced to eight months in jail, suspended for 24 months for the attack.

After Peacock pushed the victim off his push bike, causing him to fall to the ground, he seriously assaulted him.

The victim suffered a broken cheek bone and jaw in the attack.

Peacock was arrested at the scene and subsequently charged.

The victim was initially treated at West Suffolk Hospital before being transferred to Addenbrooke’s Hospital for immediate surgery before following up surgery four months later.

Peacock who pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to the grievous bodily harm incident was also ordered to do 200 hours community service and pay £3,500 in compensation to his victim.
