An 'outstanding' hat-trick achieved by Haverhill pre-school

Happy Faces Preschool in Haverhill is celebrating after receiving its third consecutive Ofsted Outstanding rating.

Situated in Colne Valley Road the preschool, which caters for children aged 2-4 years during term time, has achieved the accolade under three different inspection frameworks.

In her glowing report, Ofsted inspector Kate Oakley rated the Preschool as 'outstanding' in all areas.

Preschool manager, Diana André said: “We were thrilled to be given outstanding under the new Ofsted criteria.

"The inspector had told me that since the criteria changed in September it was much harder to get an Outstanding grade, making it a huge achievement.

"Her feedback at the end of the inspection was amazing, she couldn’t praise the staff and setting highly enough.”

The report highlighted the way children were developing “excellent independence skills” as well as “superb confidence” and “positive behaviour”.

It went on to say children “delight in group activities” and “exhibit extremely positive attitudes to learning and exploring.”

It also highlighted the highly organised and professional way in which staff receive training and progress of the children is monitored, stating “staff use a range of highly effective teaching techniques”.

The inspector also spoke with parents at the setting commenting “parents are incredibly positive about the setting and the impact it has had on their children.

"They commend the wonderful, caring staff team.”

Diana André said “We have an amazing staff team at Happy Faces who always work really hard to understand each child individually to enable them to flourish in their earliest years.

"I was delighted that the Ofsted inspector noticed how happy and safe children feel due to staff being so attentive and kind.

"This is the experience we want every child to have as this enables them to grow and develop.”
