Mildenhall Cycling Club’s Cycling Mini-Fest takes off from West Stow in August

A popular Suffolk cycling event is set to return later this year.

Setting off from its traditional venue of West Row Village Hall, Mildenhall Cycling Club is inviting everyone along for the ride for its Cycling Mini-Fest on August 25.

Featuring both the Fenland Flyer Gravel Time-Trial and the Cycle Jumble, it will welcome a range of riders, including juveniles, seniors and veterans.

Mark Burchett, the chairman of Mildenhall Cycling Club, said: “Although last year’s Mini-Fest was regrettably cancelled due to a lack of entrants for the Fenland Flyer Gravel and it hadn’t been possible to find an organiser for the grass-track racing.

“But we are delighted to be able to say that the grass track racing makes a welcome return to the line-up, around which the other events will be based.”

This year, the range of gravel events has been expanded to allow for off-road race for 13 to 16 year olds.

This clocks in at about 10km.

Meanwhile, over-16s will go head-to-head on a 20km track, which will take them across farm tracks, droves, byways and sections of minor roads.

Also taking place through the day is a car boot sale.

Sellers will have to pre-book their place.

Camping is no longer available at the site, although West Row has three camping sites.

Light refreshments will be provided all day, alongside jacket potatoes at lunchtime.
