Boy, 14, to appear in youth court charged in connection with Delphi factory fire in Sudbury
A 14-year-old boy is due to appear in youth court charged in connection with a huge fire at a disused factory.
The teenager is charged with arson with recklessness as to whether life was endangered following the blaze at the Delphi factory in Newton Road, Sudbury, at around 5.10pm on Tuesday, May 28.
He has been bailed to appear at Ipswich Youth Court on October 3.
Delphi Diesel Systems closed the site in 2020 and, following the fire, its owner revealed his £40 million plans to rejuvenate the site.
The proposals are for an alternative mixed use scheme, which would include small light industrial units, food/retail such as a Lidl or Aldi at the front of the site, residential homes, retirement living, small retail units such as a Costa drive-thru, a community hub and bowling green.
